The only positive Fallout of Gaza Genocide: Jewish Reverts

No man has ever been born heartless. It is only that some hearts take time to soften while most hearts crumble to brutality committed against the man and the resultant pain and sufferings that emerge as a fallout of the heart wrenching brutal acts.

The recent spate of genocidal barbarism by state of Israel against the Palestinians who are striving to find a piece of land for their independent existence has melted many a hearts, even that of the Jews, both within and without Israel. There have been numerous processions taken out by the Jews, specially in the USA, to condemn the barbaric accts of Israel police. Although, the use of force is justified to bring in peace, yet the merciless killing of children, even from point blank range smacks of carrying out gendercide of Palestinians.

It is strange that Jews, who once suffered at the hands of Hitler and were killed en masse, are resorting to the same tactics to carryout ethnic cleansing they themselves still condemn when it befell on them. How long this genocide will continue is uncertain to predict, but one thing is for sure that the amount of barbarism, human sufferings and pain of seeing thousands of children wrapped in coffins with mothers wailing has started to melt the hearts of the Jews - something that never happened before.

Now, while condemning the war crimes of Israel, there are incidents that Jews are reverting to Islam. In fact on the social media, a new term Jewish Reverts is being used to expose the atrocities of Israel and show an extreme reaction by reverting to Islam.

There are numerous videos on the social media (links given below) that show Jews reverting to Islam. Herein under, we one such video that show how genocide of Palestinians in Gaza is melting hearts and letting the Jews in unprecedent numbers enter the fold of Islam:
May Allah (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help the world to stop barbaric killing of the oppressed and weak who are fighting for their independence, specially in Gaza and Indian held Kashmir and melt the hard and merciless hearts to succumb to the wailing of mothers of innocent children being mercilessly slain. Ameen

That is Our duty is only to convey to you the message that Allah has entrusted us with. Then it is for you to accept it or reject it. We have not been made responsible for making you accept it forcibly, and if you do not accept it, we shall not be seized in consequence of your disbelief, you will yourselves be answerable for your actions on Day of Resurrection.

May Allah forgive me if my posts ever imply a piety far greater than I possess. I am most in need of guidance.

Islam and Muslims in Non Muslim Countries: Myanmar - Where Rohingya Muslims Face Genocide

Of the present times, the worst case scenario for Islam and Muslims living in any non Muslim countries is Myanmar. While atrocities committed against Palestinian Muslims at the hands of ISrael and Kashmiri Muslims in the Indian Occupied Kashmir are given due coverage in the media coverage, the news of genocide and ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Myanmar are generally censored and kept away from the media due to strict military control of the Myanmar army, which is alleged to have been hands in glove with the Buddhist monks for the atrocities committed to the Muslims of the country.

I tried to find anything good about state of Muslims in Myanmar, but unfortunately whenever I surfed, there were gory stories of genocide of Rohingya Muslims.

Muslims have been living in Burma, the previous name of Myanmar since 7th century. The Arab Muslim merchants visited ports of Thaton and Martaban. Arab Muslim ships sailed from Madagascar to China, often going in and out of Burma. The Muslims arrived in Burma's Ayeyarwady River delta, on the Tanintharyi coast and in Rakhine in the 9th century, prior to the establishment of the first Burmese empire in 1055 AD by King Anawrahta of Bagan. And from then they have been living in various part of the country. Burmese Muslims are the descendants of Muslim peoples who settled and intermarried with the local Burmese ethnic groups. Many early Muslims held positions of status as royal advisers, royal administrators, port authorities, mayors, and traditional medicine men.The broad minded King Mindon of Mandalay, Burma permitted the Chinese Muslims known as Panthays to build a mosque in the capital, Mandalay, which still exists.

The current population of Myanmar Muslims are the descendants of Arabs, Persians, Turks, Moors, Indian-Muslims, sheikhs, Pakistanis, Pathans, Bengalis, Chinese Muslims and Malays who settled and intermarried with local Burmese and many ethnic Myanmar groups such as, Rakhine, Shan, Karen, Mon etc.

The history of killing the Muslims of the country  of present times dates back to 1962. Although Muslims have held high posts in the country, the situation changed with the 1962 Burmese coup d'état. While a few continued to serve, most Muslims were excluded from positions in the government and army. In 1982, the government introduced regulations that denied citizenship to anyone who could not prove Burmese ancestry from before 1823. This disenfranchised many Muslims in Myanmar, even though they had lived in Myanmar for several generations.

The Rohingya Muslims are the largest Muslim group in Myanmar and have been the most persecuted under Myanmar's military regime. As per UN reports, Rohingyas are one of the most persecuted groups in the world. Since 1948, successive governments have carried out 13 military operations against the Rohingya (including in 1975, 1978, 1989, 1991–92, 2002). During the operations, Myanmar security forces have driven the Rohingyas off their land, burned down their mosques and committed widespread looting, arson and rape of Rohingya Muslims. In many cases, land occupied by Rohingya Muslims has been confiscated and reallocated to local Buddhists.

Since March 2013, riots have flared up in various cities in central and eastern Myanmar. The violence has coincided with the rise of the 969 Movement which is a Buddhist nationalist movement against the influx of Islam in traditionally Buddhist Myanmar. Since then there have been a continued wave of violence against the Muslims. However since 2017, the extremists against Muslims by Buddhist has stepped, which is being dubbed as the genocide of the Rohingya Muslims.

The atrocities included attack on Rohingya people and locations, looting and burning down Rohingya villages, mass killing of Rohingya civilians, gang rapes, and other sexual violence. During the persecution, the military and the local Buddhists killed at least 10,000 Rohingya people, burned down and destroyed 354 Rohingya villages in Rakhine state, looted many Rohingya houses, committed widespread gang rapes and other forms of sexual violence against the Rohingya Muslim women and girls. The military drive also displaced a large number of Rohingya people and made them refugees. According to the United Nations reports, as of January 2018, nearly 690,000 Rohingya people had fled or had been driven out of Rakhine state who then took shelter in the neighboring Bangladesh as refugees.

Despite many appeals by the UN and Human Rights Organizations, the Myanmar government has constantly declined requests for observer groups to visit the affected areas and know the actual facts on ground. However, the photos of Muslims that have been persecuted often leak out and appear in the media, but to no avail as generally the governments of free world sleep over it and do not forcefully assert their pressure on the Myanmar government to put an end to the atrocities against Muslims and let them live in peace.

In August, 2018, the United Nations recognized Rohingya persecution as genocide and ethnic cleansing, and called for arrest and prosecution of Myanmar's top generals responsible for crimes against humanity. It also concluded that government of Aung San Suu Kyi is covering up crimes against Rohingya and failed to offer them protection. But despite all this, the persecution of Muslims continues unabated in Myanmar.

Today, the Rohingya people are a stateless Indo-Aryan ethnic group who reside in Rakhine State, Myanmar. There were an estimated 1 million Rohingya living in Myanmar before the 2016–17 crisis. By December 2017, an estimated 625,000 refugees from Rakhine, Myanmar, had crossed the border into Bangladesh since August 2017. Even Bangladesh government is not supportive to the refugees. Bangladesh considers most of those who have crossed its borders and are living outside of camps as having "illegally infiltrated" the country. Bangladesh has often tried to prevent Rohingya refugees from crossing its border.

Those Muslims who remain behind are living a worst state sponsored ethnic cleansing with the assistance of the so called peaceful Buddhists monks. The Rohingya Muslims are described as the 'world's most persecuted minority'.

What does the government of Myanmar says: The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi and her government do not recognise the Rohingya as an ethnic group and have blamed violence in Rakhine, and subsequent military crackdowns, on those they call "terrorists". In fact Aung San Suu Kyi has no control over the military but has been criticised for her failure to condemn the indiscriminate use of force by troops, as well as to stand up for the rights of the over one million Rohingya in Myanmar. The government has also repeatedly rejected accusations of abuses. In February 2017, the UN published a report that found that government troops "very likely" committed crimes against humanity since renewed military crackdowns began in October 2016.

Watch a video below about the crisis - Facing Myanmar's brutal persecution, Rohingya refugees still can't return home:
The world conscious must wake up and some concrete measures must be taken for repatriation of the refugees back to Myanmar and the military and the Buddhist monks involved in atrocities must be brought to justice to avert any future killing of Rohingya people.

Islam and Life of Muslims in Non Muslim Countries: Rwanda

Republic of Rwanda a country in Central and East Africa has Islam as the largest minority religion of the country. Approximately 4.6% of the total population of the country is Muslims, virtually all practicing Sunni Muslims. Estimates show that there are equal numbers of Muslims among the Hutus as there are among the Tutsis.

Islam came to this part of the world in the 18th century, which was followed by the  Roman Catholic Church, in the late 19th century, but due to rather inactive Muslim community, it soon became the state and the largest religion in the country. Islam came through Arab traders from Zanzibar who first entered the country in 1901. Alternatively, it has been argued that Islam arrived during the colonial period when Muslim clerks, administrative assistants, and merchants from the Swahili-speaking coast of Tanganyika were brought to the country. Islam was also bolstered by Muslim merchants from South Asia, mainly modern Pakistan and India.

During its history, many efforts were made to impede the spread of Islam in Rwanda. These efforts generally exploited anti-Arab sentiment, and presented Muslims as foreigners. Catholic missionaries often went to great lengths to counter what they perceived influence of rival religions, such as Islam and Protestantism. Muslims were further marginalized by the fact that most Muslims settled in urban areas, whereas 90 percent of the population was rural. As neither Arab nor South Asian merchants ever attempted to further their faith, there was little spirit of preaching among Muslims.

Rwandans built their first mosque in 1913. This mosque is known as Al-Fatah Mosque.

April each year brings back the haunting memories of a heinous genocide of the Tutsi people which was carried out by the ruling Hutu government. In the 100-day period from 7 April to 15 July 1994, an estimated 500,000 to 1,000,000 Rwandans were killed, constituting an estimated 70% of the Tutsi population. Like other Rwandans, Muslims too were affected by the genocide and a  large number of Muslims who took shelter in the churches were massacred without mercy, many say the the churches assisted the killers to kill all those taking shelters in the churches. Those who went to churches as a last resort to seek refuge but death eventually found them, even in what they hoped were houses of God.

The indecent and inhuman behaviour of the church siding the Hutu killers, had a telling effect on the people of Rwanda and the number of Rwandan Muslims increased after the 1994 genocide due to large numbers of conversions. The conversions were also because of the fact that the Muslims  sheltered refugees, both Hutu and Tutsi. A handful of Muslims took a stand during the hundred days of slaughter. Mosques that were once labeled by the Hutus as the "Devil House" came to save those affected by the genocide, irrespective of their faith.

Their stance inspired thousands of Rwandans to become Muslim in what was once called Africa’s most Catholic country. Here are a few accounts:
“I was a Catholic pastor before genocide,” Matabaro Sulaiman told TRT World on a chilly Thursday night in Kigali, dressed in a flashy purple jilbab - a long loose-fit dress worn by Muslim men. When the genocide in Rwanda began in 1994, the 49-year-old, suffered a crisis of faith watching the churches, in which he preached peace and unity became slaughterhouses.  “Christians were killing people in the church,” Sulaiman said. “The [victims] went to churches thinking they will find peace but instead, they were killed. “Meanwhile, I saw Muslims take people inside the mosque.” [2]
Some of the ex-Christians who are now Muslim were interviewed by the New York Times. Yakobo Djuma Nzeyimana, a 21-year-old who became a Muslim in 1996, was quoted as saying: "People died in my old church and the pastor helped the killers. I couldn't go back and pray there. I had to find something else." Another, Alex Rutiririza, who also accepted Islam, expressed his admiration of the Muslims’ role during the genocide: "The Muslims handled themselves well in 1994 and I wanted to be like them," he said. He added that during the massacres the safest place to be was the Muslim neighbourhood. [6]
Mbarushimana Hussain was four years old when he and his parents took shelter in a mosque for a month. "Even though, I was four years old, I can't forget that Muslim man. “Amid mass murder, the Muslim guy used to go out everyday and brought food for 40 non-Muslims in the mosque. Ten years after genocide, I became Muslim along with my mother and father. We couldn't forget the kindness of Muslims.” [2]
The Marc Lacey of New York Times reported in her post of April 7, 2004: When 800,000 of their countrymen were killed in massacres that began 10 years ago this week, many Rwandans lost faith not only in their government but in their religion as well. Today, in what is still a predominantly Catholic country, Islam is the fastest growing religion. [5]
Jean Pierre Sagautu was one of these persecuted members of the Tutsi tribe, a convert to Islam from Catholic after his father and nine members of his family were slaughtered.
“I know people in America think Muslims are terrorists, but for Rwandans they were our freedom fighters during the genocide… I wanted to hide in a church, but that was the worst place to go. Instead, a Muslim family took me. They saved my life.”
During the mass killing of Tutsi, militias had the place surrounded, but Hutu Muslims did not cooperate with the Hutu killers. They said they felt far more connected through religion than through ethnicity, and Muslim Tutsi were spared. This good behaviour has had a telling effect on the Muslim population through conversion. Muslims ho once made up one percent of the population before the genocide, today “12 percent to 15 percent of the total population is Muslim”, according to Salim Habimana, a former Mufti of the country.

While the Tutsis mostly embraced Islam to protect themselves from liquidations and to follow the people who saved them, Hutus also came to leave behind them their violent past. The more the new converted Tutsis and Hutus knew about Islam the more they became closer to each other. Islam taught them how to forgive and to love each other for the sake of Allah and how to start a new beginning. Imams from both sides played a very important role in bringing both ethnicities together under the name of Islam. [7]

As an aftermath of the 1994 genocide, Islam is respected more than ever before. The Muslim religious holiday Eid al-Fitr is observed by the government as one of the four religious official holiday (alongside Christmas, All Saints' Day, and Assumption).  Although in minority, Islam is accorded the same rights and freedoms as Christianity. Muslims are now more pro active and run their own private Islamic schools. There are interfaith talks and meetings with open door policy of the Muslims that help them to be respected just like other citizens of other faiths.
Muslims are gathering after the Jumaa prayer in Masjid Al Quds in Kigali, Rwanda, 22 March 2019.

As a well-integrated minority group, Muslims actively contribute to Rwandan society and they are seen as a respectable community.  In fact Islam as become a very popular religion in Rwanda. The authorities in the country have started to allow Muslims to teach Rwandans about Islam and Muslim organizations are allowed to spread their activities across the country. Today Muslims boast of so many converts that it had embarked on a crash campaign to build new mosques to accommodate all of the faithful. About 500 mosques are now scattered throughout Rwanda, about double the number that existed a decade ago.
