A single card that will weigh heavily against scrolls of wrongdoings on the Judgement Day

This wordily life is a testing place for all the humans that were ever born and a day would come when all dead will be resurrected and those living at that time will be presented in the Divine Court to be presented with their dossiers. The heavy dossiers will decide an abode either in the Jannah (Paradise) or Jahannam (Hell).

But there will be a few who despite having sins and misdeeds written on countless scrolls will be blessed by Allah, forgiven of their bad deeds and granted Jannah. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ indicated who these few would be.

This Hadith is mentioned in Sunan Ibn Majah /  Book 37 Zuhd / كتاب الزهد) / Chapter 35: What is hoped of the Mercy of Allah on the Day of Resurrection / باب  مَا يُرْجَى مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ / as Hadith number # 4300 under:

‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“A man from my nation will be called before all of creation on the Day of Resurrection, and ninety-nine scrolls will be spread out for him, each one extending as far as the eye can see. Then Allah will say: “Do you deny anything of this?” He will say: “No, O Lord.” He will say: “Have My recording scribes been unfair to you?” Then He will say: “Apart from that, do you have any good deeds?” The man will be terrified and will say: “No.” (Allah) will say: “Indeed, you have good deeds with Us, and you will not be treated unjustly this Day.” Then a card will be brought out on which is written أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ - Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasuluhu (I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger). He will say: “O Lord, what is this card compared with these scrolls?” He will say: “You will not be treated unjustly.” Then the scrolls will be placed in one side of the Balance and the card in the other. The scrolls will go up (i.e., be light) and the card will go down (i.e., will weigh heavily).”

Grade: Sahih (Darussalam)

This hadith, narrated by ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr, conveys a powerful lesson about the significance of Tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and the testimony of faith in Islam, particularly the declaration of the shahada: "Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasuluhu", which means "I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger."

The hadith speaks about the Day of Judgment, a moment when every individual will be held accountable for their deeds. In this narration, a man from the Prophet’s (ﷺ) ummah will stand before Allah, and his deeds will be laid out in front of him. The ninety-nine scrolls represent the records of all his deeds, each one of them extensive and detailed, stretching as far as the eye can see. The man is questioned about his actions, and Allah asks him whether he denies any of the recorded deeds or whether his scribes have been unfair in recording them. The man will admit that nothing is denied and that the record is accurate.

When Allah asks if the man has any good deeds aside from the ones already recorded in the scrolls, the man will feel terror, realizing that he has nothing to present. At this point, Allah will reveal to him that there is indeed one thing that outweighs the multitude of his deeds—his testimony of faith: the shahada.

A card is brought out with the shahada written on it, and the man, seeing it in comparison to the scrolls, wonders how such a small card could possibly outweigh such a long and extensive record. Allah reassures him that he will not be treated unjustly. The scrolls are then placed on one side of the Balance, and the card with the shahada is placed on the other. Miraculously, the card outweighs all the scrolls, showing the immense weight of the testimony of faith.

Key Lessons and Insights:
  • The Weight of the Shahada: The primary lesson of this hadith is the incomparable weight of the testimony of faith, which is central to Islam. The card containing the shahada will outweigh all the deeds a person has, emphasizing that sincere belief in the oneness of Allah and in Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is of paramount importance.
  • Allah’s Mercy: Despite the man’s apparent lack of deeds, Allah’s mercy and grace will ensure that he is not judged solely by his actions but by the fundamental truth of his faith. The hadith illustrates the power of faith and repentance and underscores Allah’s willingness to forgive and grant mercy.
  • Humility and Hope for the Believers: The hadith is a reminder of the significance of believing in the oneness of Allah and accepting the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as His messenger. Even if a person has committed numerous sins, as long as they have this foundational belief, they can hope for Allah’s mercy on the Day of Judgment.
  • Reminder of the Importance of Deeds: While the shahada is the foundation, this hadith also reminds Muslims of the importance of their deeds. It shows that good deeds are important, but the ultimate salvation lies in faith and Allah’s mercy.
This hadith thus highlights that while deeds are crucial, the fundamental belief in Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is the most important factor in determining one's final outcome in the afterlife. The hadith encourages believers to maintain their faith, hold tightly to the shahada, and hope for Allah’s mercy, knowing that He is just and merciful beyond measure.

However, this must be remembered that this case will not be for every Muslim but will apply to those who sincerely believed in wordings of the Shahada أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ and all along their lives remain tied to it firmly without wavering in their faith,  "إيمان" (ʾīmān), even for a fraction of a second. So let us remain tied as close to the Shahada truly understanding the importance of the pledge so taken and expecting a Divine Reward on the Day of Judgement.
May Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which is embodiment of commandments of Allah contained in the Qur'ān. May Allah help us to be like the ones He loves and let our lives be lived helping others and not making others' lives miserable or unlivable. May all our wrong doings, whether intentional or unintentional, be forgiven before the angel of death knocks on our door.
(36:17) and our duty is no more than to clearly convey the Message.”
That is Our duty is only to convey to you the message that Allah has entrusted us with. Then it is for you to accept it or reject it. We have not been made responsible for making you accept it forcibly, and if you do not accept it, we shall not be seized in consequence of your disbelief, you will yourselves be answerable for your actions on Day of Resurrection.

May Allah forgive me if my posts ever imply a piety far greater than I possess. I am most in need of guidance.

What is the wisdom behind Prohibition of Backbiting (ghibah الغيبة) in Islam

Backbiting and slandering are two of the major sins in Islam. These two sins are forbidden by Allah because they sow enmity, evil and discord among people and lead to destruction. Normally, these two sins are initiated with deceit and intended harm for others. In most of the cases these tear apart the otherwise harmonized and friendly moral fiber between They cause hostilities between people of the same household, friends, neighbours and relatives.  In fact backbiting and slander set forth non ending hostilities and disintegration of relations.

Divine Admonishment of Backbiting and Slandering
Owing to the harmful effect of these two ugly sins, Allah has cautioned believers against this un-Islamic act, cautioning severe consequences who indulge in such evil acts. Let us quote a few verses from Qur'an:
  • Condemnation of Backbiting:
"O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful." (Surah Al-Hujurat, 49:12)

This verse equates backbiting to eating the flesh of a dead brother, a vivid and graphic metaphor that illustrates the abhorrence of this act in the sight of Allah. It emphasizes how detestable backbiting is, both morally and spiritually.
  • Prohibition of Slander and Falsehood:
"Woe to every scorner and mocker." (Surah Al-Humazah, 104:1)

This verse condemns those who engage in mockery and scorn, behaviors often associated with backbiting and slander. It serves as a warning to avoid speaking ill of others.
  • Guarding One’s Tongue:
"Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it)." (Surah Qaf, 50:18)

This verse reminds believers that every word spoken is recorded, highlighting the importance of being mindful of speech, particularly when discussing others.
  • Spreading Goodness and Avoiding Harm:
"And speak to people good [words]..." (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:83)

The Qur'an instructs believers to speak kindly and avoid words that cause harm or spread negativity. Backbiting is the opposite of this command.

Hadith of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ related to Backbiting
In one of the Hadiths attributed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

Do you know what is backbiting? They (the Companions) said: Allah and His Messenger know best. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Backbiting implies your talking about your brother in a manner which he does not like. It was said to him: What is your opinion about this that if I actually find (that failing) in my brother which I made a mention of? He said: If (that failing) is actually found (in him) what you assert, you in fact backbited him, and if that is not in him it is a slander.

Note: You may like to read our earlier post: A Qattat will not enter Paradise (Hadith Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) on the similar theme.

  • Definition of Backbiting (Ghibah): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ defines backbiting as speaking about a fellow Muslim in a way that he or she would dislike, whether the statement is true or not. It involves mentioning someone's faults behind their back, which they would not want others to know or discuss.
  • True vs. False Statements: The Prophet ﷺ clarifies that if the fault being mentioned is actually present in the person, it is considered backbiting. If the fault does not exist, it becomes slander (buhtan), which is an even greater sin because it involves spreading falsehoods and lies about someone.
  • Impact on Relationships: Backbiting damages relationships, spreads negativity, and fosters distrust within the community. It is seen as a destructive force that undermines social harmony.
Wisdom Behind the Prohibition of Backbiting
  • Protecting Dignity and Honor: Islam places great emphasis on preserving the dignity and honor of every individual. Backbiting violates these principles by exposing and highlighting faults in a way that causes harm.
  • Promoting Social Cohesion: By prohibiting backbiting, Islam seeks to maintain unity and trust within the community. When people refrain from speaking ill of one another, relationships are strengthened, and conflicts are minimized.
  • Encouraging Self-Reflection and Repentance: The emphasis on avoiding backbiting encourages individuals to reflect on their own behavior rather than focusing on the faults of others. It promotes self-awareness and humility.
  • Guarding Against Greater Sins: Backbiting often leads to more significant sins, such as spreading falsehoods, causing enmity, and breaking relationships. By curbing this behavior, Islam aims to prevent a cascade of negative actions.

Consequences of Backbiting:

  • Spiritual Consequences: Backbiting distances a person from Allah’s mercy. It is considered a serious sin that can lead to the displeasure of Allah and potential punishment in the Hereafter.
  • Social Consequences: It breeds mistrust and resentment, creating divisions within families, friendships, and communities. The social fabric is weakened when individuals feel unsafe from verbal attacks behind their backs.
  • Personal Consequences: Engaging in backbiting reflects poorly on one’s character. It often leads to a loss of respect and trust from others.
The The above quoted verses from Qur'an and Hadith on backbiting, highlight the severe spiritual and social harm caused by speaking ill of others. It stresses the importance of guarding one’s tongue, preserving the dignity of others, and fostering a positive, respectful environment. By avoiding backbiting, believers align themselves with the ethical and moral standards set by Islam, promoting harmony and mutual respect within the community.

Now just look around and see how much slandering and backbiting we are accused of - knowingly (mostly) and unknowingly. There is a special caution for women whose gossip is generally comprised of backbiting and slandering. That is why in one of the Hadiths, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned women hat on his ascent to the heaven during Israh, he would poor people in Paradise and more women than men in the Hell, for the bad habit of backbiting and slandering in the worldly life. Let us make an effort to desist and refrain from these two sins which severe consequences.
Why did Prophet Muhammad ﷺ use rain metaphorically to explain the concept of guidance

Many non Muslims try to find scientific correlation of events and working of the universe from the Qur'an - an analysis never applied to earlier three Divine Scriptures, that is Psalms, Torah and the Gospel. Though Qur'an  answers many such queries, Qur'an is not a book of science or fiction. In fact the Quran is a book of guidance for the entire mankind. It is the ultimate source of guidance for all aspects of life, providing direction on spiritual, moral, social, and legal matters. The Quran itself emphasizes its role as guidance for humanity in several verses.

Here we would only refer to the very first verse on guidance as mentioned in the second verse of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:2):

"This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah."  This verse explicitly states that the Quran is a book of guidance for those who are mindful of Allah, often referred to as the "muttaqin" or the God-conscious.

We would write a comprehensive post on guidance as mentioned in Qur'an and many a hadith in a while. But for now we share a Hadith attributed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in which rain is used metaphorically to explain the concept of guidance.

This Hadith is mentioned in Sahi al-Bukhārī  (Book 3 Knowledge /  كتاب العلم / Chapter 20:  The superiority of a person who learns (Islam, becomes a religious scholar) and then teaches it to others / باب   فَضْلِ مَنْ عَلِمَ وَعَلَّمَ ‏ ) as Hadith 79, given herein under:

Narrated by Abu Musa:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land gave no benefits). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah's religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah has revealed through me (the Prophets and learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allah's guidance revealed through me (He is like that barren land.)"

Explanation of the Hadith:
  • Guidance as a Blessing (As mentioned in Qur'an): The Quran frequently likens divine guidance to rain that brings life to barren land. For instance, in Surah Al-Hadid (57:17): "Know that Allah gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. We have made clear to you the signs; perhaps you will understand." Just as rain revives dead land, divine guidance revives the hearts and souls of people.
  • Different Receptions of Guidance: The hadith describes three types of land, which symbolize three types of people:
    • Fertile Soil: Represents those who absorb the guidance, understand it, and act upon it, bringing benefit to themselves and others. This aligns with the description in Surah Az-Zumar (39:18):
      • "Who listen to speech and follow the best of it. Those are the ones Allah has guided, and those are people of understanding."
    • Hard Land: Represents those who hold onto the knowledge and convey it to others, even if they might not fully benefit from it themselves. This can be related to Surah Al-Baqarah (2:269):
      • "He grants wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. But none will remember except those of understanding."
    • Barren Land: Represents those who neither accept nor benefit from the guidance. This is reflected in Surah Al-A'raf (7:179):
      • "And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. It is they who are the heedless."
  • The Role of the Prophet (ﷺ): The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was sent as a mercy and a source of guidance to all of humanity.
    •  Surah Al-Anbiya (21:107) states: "And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds."
    • The hadith emphasizes the varying effects of his message on different people, illustrating the idea found in Surah Al-Kahf (18:29): "And say, 'The truth is from your Lord, so whoever wills - let him believe; and whoever wills - let him disbelieve.' Indeed, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose walls will surround them. And if they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like murky oil, which scalds [their] faces. Wretched is the drink, and evil is the resting place."
The hadith from Sahih Bukhari uses the metaphor of rain and different types of soil to explain how people respond differently to divine guidance. This metaphor is consistent with various Quranic themes, where guidance is depicted as a life-giving force, and people's varied receptivity to it is acknowledged. Those who understand and act upon the guidance are likened to fertile soil that brings forth vegetation, benefiting themselves and others. In contrast, those who reject the guidance are compared to barren land that remains unproductive.

So let us benefit from guidance from Qur'an and many a hadith of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ which further explain the concept of guidance. Remember Qur'an and Hadiths are to interpreted with wisdom and not with a tainted mindset. It is only then we would start to know what is Siraat e Mustaqeem and true guidance.

Let the listeners of Adhan be witness for the caller on the Day of Resurrection (Hadith Prophet Muhammad ﷺ)

Adhan is the prerequisite for offering prayer. The Adhan is the call to prayer, usually recited by a muezzin at five times of the day in a masjid, traditionally from a minaret. Although, todays the loudspeakers have replaced the mode of communication of the Adhan to the believers to come to the masjid for the prayer, As Salat, yet at many smaller places it is recited out without the aid of an electronic means of communication.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has been quoted as telling his companions about the reward of the Adhan caller, called muezzin.  This Hadith is mentioned in Sahi al-Bukhārī  (Book 10 Call to Prayers (Adhaan) /  كتاب  الأذان / Chapter-5 Raising the voice in pronouncing the Adhan / باب رَفْعِ الصَّوْتِ بِالنِّدَاءِ) as Hadith 609, given herein under:

Narrated by `Abdur-Rahman:
Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri told my father, "I see you liking sheep and the wilderness. So whenever you are with your sheep or in the wilderness and you want to pronounce Adhan for the prayer raise your voice in doing so, for whoever hears the Adhan, whether a human being, a jinn or any other creature, will be a witness for you on the Day of Resurrection."

Abu Sa`id added, "I heard it (this narration) from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)."

The above said Hadith assures reward for the calling the Adhan, specially when one is in the wilderness, where other than men in the area, the jinns, animals and all other living creatures,  who will bear witness in favour of the Adhan caller and he would be thus adequately rewarded.

However, this does not mean that where loudspeakers are used, the volume is opened to its fullest level so that the Adhan reaches many many people of the vicinity. The too high volume may become a discomfort for the elderly and the sick. Let the Adhan be heard in the local community and not the other communities where such arrangements also exist.
May Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which is embodiment of commandments of Allah contained in the Qur'ān. The Most Liked and Hated Places in the sight of Allah (Hadith Prophet Muhammad ﷺ)

Places where one spends his most of the time has a deep impacting impression on his personality, thinking, personal dealings and even faith. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in one of his Hadiths has mentioned two places, one of which is most liked by Allah, and the other most hated.

This Hadith is quoted in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: Book 5 The Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer - كتاب الْمَسَاجِدِ وَمَوَاضِعِ الصَّلاَةِ / Chapter 52 The virtue of sitting in one’s prayer place after Subh, and the virtue of the masajid / باب فَضْلِ الْجُلُوسِ فِي مُصَلاَّهُ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ وَفَضْلِ الْمَسَاجِدِ ‏‏ / as Hadith number # 671 as under:

Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The parts of land dearest to Allah are its masjids, and the parts most hateful to Allah are markets.

That is one whose orientation remains towards Allah and the one who finds solace and tranquility in a place is the places of Allah, that is the masjids (mosques). Here a man of faith falls in prostration in front of Allah in total humility and submission, and knows his act of prostration will be accepted and rewarded. Even otherwise, in addition to offering five daily prayers, a believer interacts with others, which adds to the solidifying the bondage of brotherhood. Masjid is also a place where one learns about the religion, engaging in remembrance of Allah by using many attributes of Allah, alone or with a group. Such actions are most liked by Allah and rewards His servants profusely and in abundance.

As for the market places, where most of us tend to spend our most of the time to attend to our business or seek any form work or job, are places infested with the Devil and his aids. Thus it is generally seen that business deals are based on deceit and deception to hoodwink the customers and to attain undue profits.

Imaam an-Nawawee رحمه الله said in its explanation: “That is because Masaajid are the houses of obedience and bases of Taqwā whereas markets are a place of deception, treachery, interest (Ribā), lies, broken promises and turning away from the Remembrance of Allāh.”

We must, our dear brothers and sisters, spend least time in the marketplaces and rush to masjids to remember Allah. This does not mean that one should not do business and remain busy in worship of Allah. This hadith tells us to lay down priorities and even when we are doing business or job, our intentions should be honest, clear of any deceit and deception, and even if we have to lose for the sake of honesty, we should not indulge in negativities. For Allah compensates those who remember Him much and are honest in their dealings.
Do not forget to honour rights of others while observing As Saum (Fasting) other than in month of Ramadan

Fasting in the month of Ramadan is Divinely ordained on every adult and health Muslim, man and woman. Other than these obligatory fasts / As Saum, one can keep fast any time throughout the year, except the two Eids.

However, it is often seen that many observe fasts more than what is needed, something that was even observed by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in his days when newly reverted Muslims thought it would earn them more blessings of Allah. In this regard we share a Hadith attributed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in which he lays down the criteria for the non obligatory fasts so that rights of others, even the right of a man's body are not compromised or over looked.

This Hadith is mentioned in Sahi al-Bukhārī  (Book 30 Fasting /  كتاب الصوم / Chapter 55:  The right of the body in observing As-Saum. / باب حَقِّ الْجِسْمِ فِي الصَّوْمِ) as Hadith 1975, given herein under:

Narrated by `Abdullah bin `Amr bin Al-`As:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to me, "O `Abdullah! Have I not been informed that you fast during the day and offer prayers all the night." `Abdullah replied, "Yes, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Don't do that; fast for few days and then give it up for few days, offer prayers and also sleep at night, as your body has a right on you, and your wife has a right on you, and your guest has a right on you. And it is sufficient for you to fast three days in a month, as the reward of a good deed is multiplied ten times, so it will be like fasting throughout the year." I insisted (on fasting) and so I was given a hard instruction. I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I have power." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Fast like the fasting of the Prophet (ﷺ) David and do not fast more than that." I said, "How was the fasting of the Prophet (ﷺ) of Allah, David?" He said, "Half of the year," (i.e. he used to fast on every alternate day). Afterwards when `Abdullah became old, he used to say, "It would have been better for me if I had accepted the permission of the Prophet (which he gave me i.e. to fast only three days a month).

The Hadith above clearly shows that while fasting other than the month of Ramadan, one has to be mindful of the strength of one's body to endure the rigours of fasting if these are done beyond a limit. Also while a man chooses to fasts for longer durations, he compromises the rights of one's spouse on him and others around. Let us not over do things to bag more blessings than others by indulging in worship that robs the rights of others on us. Let us follow a medium path in our worship, otherwise it will displease others which is least liked by Allah.
Good is Good in every matter of a believer (Hadith Prophet Muhammad ﷺ)

There is immense criticism on Islam by non Muslims worldwide for they think the Muslims are doomed by following Islam. For them, salvation lies in following Jesus (Prophet Eesa, peace be upon him). But perhaps they do not know, we have a guaranteed salvation by none else Allah, the sole Creator of the universe and the most merciful.

The guaranteed salvation means a lot to us as even if think of doing a good feat and for some reasons fail to do it, we shall still be rewarded. And we think evil, we will not be penalized unless we commit the that evil act. That is why a believer earns goodness both in good and otherwise times. Read the following hadith attributed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and know how!

This Hadith is quoted in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: Statement of Asceticism and Piety / Chapter In the statement that good is good in every matter of a believer / as Hadith No. 7500 as under:

Sulaiman, Thabit, Abdur Rahman bin Abi Layli, it was narrated from Hazrat Sahib that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The believing man also has a strange condition that he is good in every situation. And this is not understood by anyone except the believing man that if he is afflicted with any pain and he is grateful, then there is a reward for him in that too, and if any harm befalls him and he perseveres, then it will be rewarded for him. I am also rewarded

Arabic Text:.

So let us remain steadfast in every situation we may be in, good or otherwise. If we have faith in Allah that whatever befalls on us is a test and accept our situation as something from Allah, all will will be good. And it is this steadfastness that brings glad tidings to every believer.
May Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which is embodiment of commandments of Allah contained in the Qur'ān. When to wait for the Hour (Hadith Prophet Muhammad ﷺ)

All Divine religions mention of the Doomsday -  a day which will be the end of the world and the moment of final judgment. In Islam, it is called "Yawm al-Qiyāmah - القيامة ." On this day, all the people who have ever lived will be raised from the dead and will face judgement by Allah.

The seventy-fifth chapter (sūrah) of the Qur'an mentions the concept of the Doomsday. Right in the first verse, Allah Himself swears by the Day of Resurrection, a reality no matter how much we try to escape will befall on man and every man will then be subjected to a the most difficult test of his life as compared to the tests and trials of the worldly life.

* Please read more about Divine revaluation about this fateful day in our post: Surah al Qiyamah

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in his life mentioned many a indicators and landmark events which will foretell the end of the world. Some of the signs are mentioned herein under:
  • The smoke (Dukkhan);
  • Dajjal (the AntiChrist);
  • Dabbatul-Ard (the Beast of the Earth);
  • Rising of the sun from its setting place (i.e. the West);
  • coming down of Isa, son of Maryam;
  • Gog and Magog
There are other indicators too that the revered Prophet of Allah mentioned. Out of those we share one in our post today. This Hadith is mentioned in Sahi al-Bukhārī  (Book 81 - To make the Heart Tender (Ar-Riqaq) /  كتاب الرقاق / Chapter 35:  The disappearance of Al-Amanah / باب رَفْعِ الأَمَانَةِ) as Hadith 6496, given herein under:

Narrated by Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour." It was asked, "How will honesty be lost, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)?" He said, "When authority is given to those who do not deserve it, then wait for the Hour."

Let us look around us and we will find that by and by honesty is being overtaken by deceit and lies and in the garb of these ills, people who do not otherwise deserve authority are taking over positions of power, relegating the pious and the just to the backdrop. Aren't we inching toward the Hour, already??
