Which of the THREE things that follow the bier of the dead is left with the buried forever

Death is a reality, and every living being is to perish one day and gone forever. While the life of animals and birds ends with their death, the life of man continues after the death, though with a break till the dead are resuscitated on the Day of Resurrection.

Despite this stark reality, man pays more attention to building a family and amassing as much wealth as he can, and earn the highest possible position of honour in his society and place of work. While doing so, he seldom pays attention to virtues, good deeds and preparing for his real luggage that he would carry along upon his death.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has warned man that only three things will accompany him to his burial. While two would return after the burial, only one thing will stay back with him forever. Which are these three things? These have been mentioned in a Hadith, quoted in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: Book (53) as Hadith number 7424, reproduced herein under:

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Abi Bakr said: "I heard Anas bin Malik say: 'Three things follow the deceased; two of them return and one remains. He is followed by his family, his wealth and his deeds. Then his family and his wealth return and his deeds remain (with him).'"

My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, no matter how much you love your family, and how much wealth you amass, these two things will leave you no sooner you are dead. However, it will be your deeds, good or bad, that will stay with you forever till you are presented in the Divine court on the Day of Resurrection and will speak good or bad of you. On that day, no one will be asked about his family and wealth or worldly position, but DEEDS alone. And it will be on the basis of weight of one's deed that the decision will be given of one's future abode: Heaven or Hell.

So, time is now to amass as much goodies in your kitty as you can, repent for the bad deeds and seek forgiveness from Allah before the angel of death strikes you. And he will come unannounced, any second from now onward. No time will then be allowed to make amends and repent. Let us take advantage of the leverage that Allah provides us to repent as soon as we commit a sin or hurt someone, so as be ready for death with a heavy sack of good deeds and no bad deeds at all. Think over it!!
May Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which is embodiment of commandments of Allah contained in the Qur'ān. May Allah help us to be like the ones He loves and let our lives be lived helping others and not making others' lives miserable or unlivable. May all our wrong doings, whether intentional or unintentional, be forgiven before the angel of death knocks on our door.
(36:17) and our duty is no more than to clearly convey the Message.”
That is Our duty is only to convey to you the message that Allah has entrusted us with. Then it is for you to accept it or reject it. We have not been made responsible for making you accept it forcibly, and if you do not accept it, we shall not be seized in consequence of your disbelief, you will yourselves be answerable for your actions on Day of Resurrection.

May Allah forgive me if my posts ever imply a piety far greater than I possess. I am most in need of guidance.

Reading the Qur'ān should be a daily obligation of a Muslim - Reading it with translation will make it meaningful. But reading its Exegesis / Tafsir will make you understand it fully. It will also help the Muslims to have grasp over social issues and their answers discussed in the Qur'an and other matter related to inter faith so that they are able to discuss issues with non-Muslims with authority based on refences from Qur'an.

Note: When we mention God in our posts, we mean One True God, we call Allah in Islam, with no associates. Allah is the Sole Creator of all things, and that Allah is all-powerful and all-knowing. Allah has no offspring, no race, no gender, no body, and is unaffected by the characteristics of human life.

Allah does not look to your faces and your wealth – but your heart and deeds

Most of us envy people of high stature for their wealth, position and popularity and many wish to be like them. But these are worldly thoughts. When it comes to Allah, things change dramatically, for Allah is not concerned by our positions and wealth, but our deeds. A wealth man with poor or ill deeds will be a loser in the end, while a man in rag tags but with a pure heart that throbs for others will be the ultimate winner.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has been quoted warning the beleivers about purity of heart and good deeds in a hadith mentioned Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: The Book (#4y) Virtue, Enjoining Good Manners, and Joining of the Ties of Kinship كتاب البر والصلة والآداب  / Chapter # 10 The Prohibition of Wronging, Forsaking, Or Despising a Muslim and The Inviolability of His Blood, Honor and Wealth باب باب تَحْرِيمِ ظُلْمِ الْمُسْلِمِ وَخَذْلِهِ وَاحْتِقَارِهِ وَدَمِهِ وَعِرْضِهِ وَمَالِ) as Hadith number # 2564c as under:

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Verily Allah does not look to your faces and your wealth but He looks to your heart and to your deeds.

A simple yet well worded Hadith which if we ponder deeply, the complexion of our attitudes will change altogether and instead of displaying our wealth or wielding our positions to impress others, we ill be more concerned about cleansing our hearts and doing good deed to please none other than Allah, for finally this will matter the most.
May Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which is embodiment of commandments of Allah contained in the Qur'ān. DEEDS that may qualify a man to enter Paradise (Hadith Prophet Muhammad ﷺ)

The concept of Paradise (Jannah) and Hell (Jahannam) is amply highlighted in Qur'an and by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in many of his Hadiths. In fact, this was the most sought out questions by believers who had recently embraced Islam in times of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who wanted to leave the evil life they had spent as non-Muslims and do as many good deeds as possible to rewrite their slates.

We share a Hadith attributed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in which a similar question was asked from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and he replied that if a man did four things, he may be rest assured that he would be a likely contender of entering Jannah.

This Hadith has been mentioned in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī  (Book 78   Good Manners and Form (Al-Adab) كتاب الأدب / Chapter 10: Superiority of good relations with relatives باب فَضْلِ صِلَةِ الرَّحِمِ) as Hadith 5983

Narrated Abu Aiyub Al-Ansari:

A man said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Inform me of a deed which will make me enter Paradise." The people said, "What is the matter with him? What is the matter with him?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "He has something to ask (what he needs greatly)." The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to him), (In order to enter Paradise) you should worship Allah and join none in worship with Him: You should offer prayers perfectly, give obligatory charity (Zakat), and keep good relations with your Kith and kin." He then said, "Leave it!" (The sub-narrator said, "It seems that the Prophet (ﷺ) was riding his she camel."

The Hadith in nutshell is the total summary of Deen of Islam. If a man sincerely ensures these four things, he has in fact followed the true spirit of Islam. While the first three actions are purely related to between man and Allah, the last one is the between him and everyone around him, especially his kith and kin. It must be remembered that the first right of good conduct is that of parents, which is undebatable and unquestionable, for no matter how harsh or bad they have been with their children, children need to respect and honour them. After the parents, one's brothers/sisters and then very near ones need to be treated gently and goodly. Anyone who breaks the bondage with his near and dear ones, is in fact committing a grave error and may annoy Allah for the base of Islam rests on peace and ensuring peace.

We have not been made responsible to make you accept it forcibly, And if you do not accept it, we shall not be seized in consequence of your disbelief, You will yourselves be answerable for your actions on Day of Resurrection.
