Learn Qur'an and Teach Others what you have learnt

Qur'an is book of Divine commandants revealed on the last of the prophets Muhammad ﷺ by none other than Allah through angels of the angels Angel Jibraeel (Gabriel) for the entire mankind as there will be no more prophets or Divine Books. Qur'an contains commandments to live a life as per the dictates of Allah, the omnipotent and the Creator the entire universe. Thus it is incumbent on every Muslim to read, understand and live a life as enunciated in the Qur'an.

However, knowing  Qur'an and what it teaches is not enough. All those who have been gifted the ability to read, must not restrict this Divine knowledge to themselves for their own benefit and blessing, but should also teach what they know to others who cannot read or are away from getting to know the Divine Wisdom. Allah commands Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the 85th verses of Surah 28 Al Qassas:

اِنَّ الَّذِىۡ فَرَضَ عَلَيۡكَ الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لَرَآدُّكَ اِلٰى مَعَادٍ ؕ قُلْ رَّبِّىۡۤ اَعۡلَمُ مَنۡ جَآءَ بِالۡهُدٰى وَمَنۡ هُوَ فِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيۡنٍ‏
(28:85) (O Prophet), surely He Who has ordained the Qur'an on you will bring you to the best end. Say to them: "My Lord knows best who has brought true guidance and who is in clear error."

That is, “He has placed on you the responsibility of conveying the Quran and teaching it to the people, and reforming the world according to the guidance contained in it.”

If we read this verse in conjunction with the 92nd verse of Surah 27 An Namal:

وَاَنۡ اَتۡلُوَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَۚ فَمَنِ اهۡتَدٰى فَاِنَّمَا يَهۡتَدِىۡ لِنَفۡسِهٖۚ وَمَنۡ ضَلَّ فَقُلۡ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا مِنَ الۡمُنۡذِرِيۡنَ‏
(27:92) and to recite the Qur'an." So, whosoever is guided, his guidance will be to his own good. As for those who stray, tell them: "I am none but a warner."

The above two verses amply highlight the reading and reciting the Qur'an for others so that others receive the Divine Wisdom and act upon it. Here it is made amply clear that if someone doesn't heed to what he has been taught, the reader doesn't share the responsibility. The reader has conveyed the truth, now it is up to the listeners whether the believe in it and acct upon it or decide to remain ignorant and away from the path of the truth, for which they will have to pay a heavy penalty on the day of judgment.

Thus it can be seen that it was the duty of the Prophet of Allah to convey to the people what was revealed unto him. Had he not done so, he too would have been penalized for not acting upon the commandments of Allah. Likewise, it is incumbent upon every Muslim to learn to read the Qur'an and then recite to others with the aim of making them know what Allah expects from all Muslims. And we  too restrict the knowledge to ourselves, we will be negating the commandments of Allah for not spreading the word of Allah to others who are illiterate or ignorant.

We at Islam: My Ultimate Decision have been trying our best to spread the Divine message to all Muslims and even non Muslims through sharing exegesis / Tafsir off the Qur'an based on its explanation by eminent Muslim scholars  so that learning and understanding is made easy. Our posts are in English so that reverts and even Muslims who cannot read Arabic are equally benefitted. And it is made easier for them to spread the word of Allah to others as their religious duty and obligation.

We have also been sharing selected verses and invocations from the Qur'an for easy access for otherwise it is difficult to search for verse specific to a topic or an invocation specific to one's needs. These can be accessed from following reference pages:
We do hope our readers would get benefitted from our efforts and help in spreading the word of Qur'an to others. In Sha Allah.

Reading the Holy Quran should be a daily obligation of a Muslim - Reading it with translation will make it meaningful. But reading its Exegesis / Tafsir will make you understand it fully. An effort has been made to gather explanation / exegesis of the surahs of the Holy Qur'an from authentic sources and then present a least possible condensed explanation of the surah. In that:
  • The plain translation and explanation has been taken from the Holy Quran officially published by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. [1]
  • The exegesis of the chapters of the Holy Quran is mainly based on the "Tafhim al-Qur'an - The Meaning of the Qur'an" by one of the most enlightened scholars of the Muslim World Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi.  [2]
In order to augment and add more explanation as already provided by [2], additional input has been interjected from following sources (links to Reference Pages given below):
  • Tafsir Ibn Khatir
  • Muhammad Asad Translation
  • Al-Quran, Yusuf Ali Translation
  • Javed Ahmad Ghamidi / Al Mawrid
  • Qur'an Wiki
  • Verse by Verse Qur'an Study Circle
  • Tafsir Nouman Ali Khan
  • Towards Understanding the Quran
In addition the references of  other sources which have been explored have also been given below. Those desirous of detailed explanations and tafsir (exegesis), may refer to these sites:
