Scholars' Viewpoint: Challenging Existence of God

Majority of people around the world believe in the existence of one Divine Power, called God, or Allah in Arabic. Those who believe in the doctrine of monotheism believe so because spiritually and intellectually they have firm believe and faith in the existence of One True God.

But there are people who believe in the doctrine of absence of belief in the existence of deities. Called Atheists, they outrightly reject of the belief that any deities exist. Or yet in a very narrow sense, they maintain a position that there are no deities at all. The etymological root for the word atheism originated before the 5th century BCE from the ancient Greek átheos (atheos), meaning "without god(s)". Thus, it could be said that Atheism is contrasted with theism, which, in its most general form, is the belief that at least one deity exists.

Interestingly, about 68% of the atheists worldwide are male, for the reason that hearts of male when it comes to finding truth are more hardened to absorb the light of truth than that of women. And that is also the reason that more women are reverting to Islam than men, for truth permeates into women hearts and bring her closer to the truth.

In fact, the atheists themselves are not very clear what to believe in exactly. They say that Atheism is not an affirmative belief that there is no god nor does it answer any other question about what a person believes. It is simply a rejection of the assertion that there are gods. That is while still believing in the existence of God, they still do not believe it for not very argumentative reasons. And are always challenging existence of God.

We as Muslims have no doubt whatever that there are no deities except one true God and anyone who associates other deities with Allah is a non-believer. But for non-believers, it takes real guts to believe the existence of One True God. While everyday more and more people of other faiths are reverting to or in other words embracing Islam, many still sit on the fence mulling on the truth they are not ready to accept.

In order to have true faith, one must have both spiritual and intellectual inclination towards finding what is The Truth from what is not. Intellectually, there are many non-Muslims who are seen bashing Islam by merely reading translation of the Quran and finding faults. But it is the same non-believers, who have found a spiritual awakening in their hearts that they intellectually start to understand the real truth and guidance hidden in the Quran, and one day they find the difference of being unaware and being truly aware.

For those who challenge the existence of One True God, I am today sharing a video by one of the most enlightened Muslim scholars of present times, Nouman Ali Khan, born to a Pakistani family, is an American Muslim speaker and Arabic instructor who founded the Bayyinah Institute for Arabic and Qur’anic Studies, after serving as an instructor of Arabic at Nassau Community College. He has been named one of the 500 most influential Muslims in the world by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre of Jordan.

Please very carefully an intently watch the video below on the issue by eminent Muslim scholar of present times, Nouman Ali Khan:

وَمَا عَلَيۡنَاۤ اِلَّا الۡبَلٰغُ الۡمُبِيۡنُ‏
(36:17) and our duty is no more than to clearly convey the Message.”
That is our duty to convey only to you the message that Allah has entrusted us with. Then it is for you to accept it or reject it. We have not been made responsible for making you accept it forcibly, and if you do not accept it, we shall not be seized in consequence of your disbelief, you will yourselves be answerable for your actions on Day of Resurrection.

May Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and help us to act upon the commandments of Allah contained therein. May Allah help us to be like the ones He loves and let our lives be lived helping others and not making others' lives miserable or unlivable. May all our wrong doings, whether intentional or unintentional, be forgiven before the angel of death knocks on our door.

May Allah forgive me if my posts ever imply a piety far greater than I possess. I am most in need of guidance.
