An incredible Revert Experience of a young Teenager

Revert experiences of non-Muslims are plenty and each has its uniqueness. I have shared many such experiences, but today I share an incredible revert experience of a young man, hardly eighteen years of age who shares his journey from being a Catholic to atheist and finally jumping into the bandwagon of Islam.

In an age when most teenagers are involved in the worldly amusement, lewdness and drugs, there are young men who think that the life and the faith they are following is not the one that answers their queries or gives them peace of mind. The video I am sharing today is the self-told story of a teenager who found himself utterly dissatisfied with his faith of birth and endeavoured to find answers and solace that could put him at ease and look forward with a clear and concise mindset and true faith.

I would not say more for the video is really a narration of an incredible run down of one's growth from a child to a teenager and finally choosing Islam for according to him Islam made him to understand the why of life and how to live a life a on a path that took him to a straight path shown to him by One True God. I am sure experience of this teenager will move many young and growing men and make them think how to clearly define their future life.
May Allah (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which is embodiment of commandments of Allah contained in the Qur'ān. May Allah help us have unflinching faith and trust in Divine Wisdom and decisions and should never lament for we do not know that something better has been planned for us by our most caring Lord. May all our wrong doings, whether intentional or unintentional, be forgiven before the angel of death knocks on our door.
وَمَا عَلَيۡنَاۤ اِلَّا الۡبَلٰغُ الۡمُبِيۡنُ‏
(36:17) and our duty is no more than to clearly convey the Message.”
That is Our duty is only to convey to you the message that Allah has entrusted us with. Then it is for you to accept it or reject it. We have not been made responsible for making you accept it forcibly, and if you do not accept it, we shall not be seized in consequence of your disbelief, you will yourselves be answerable for your actions on Day of Resurrection.

Reading the Qur'ān should be a daily obligation of a Muslim - Reading it with translation will make it meaningful. But reading its Exegesis / Tafsir will make you understand it fully. It will also help the Muslims to have grasp over social issues and their answers discussed in the Qur'an and other matter related to inter faith so that they are able to discuss issues with non-Muslims with authority based on refences from Qur'an.

May Allah forgive me if my posts ever imply a piety far greater than I possess. I am most in need of guidance.

Note: When we mention God in our posts, we mean One True God, we call Allah in Islam, with no associates. Allah is the Sole Creator of all things, and that Allah is all-powerful and all-knowing. Revert Experiences: How reading Qur'an melts hearts to enter fold of Islam

Ignorance always leads to misunderstandings, mistrust or even hatred. This is especially true in case of understanding religions. Although, Christianity is the leading religion of the world, Islam is growing more rapidly and winning hearts of those who venture to read and understand Qur'an and Sunnah of last of the prophets Muhammad ﷺ.

The rapid growth of Islam is despite the fact that disinformation is spread about Islam with full throttle and Muslims are more often than not portrayed as terrorists and miscreants whenever an untoward incident takes places anywhere in the world. The term Islamophobia is just one of the latest efforts to discredit Islam and Qur'an. There have been many incidents of tearing and burning of copies of Qur'an in the West and beating and slashing Muslims in India, forcing them to drink urine of cow and compelling them to proclaim Hindu slogans.

There have been priests and monks who are seen uttering blatant lies about Islam and twisting meanings of verses of Qur'an to portray Islam as a brutal religion. But such efforts to belittle Islam and discredit the Muslims are proving to have positive impact on non-Muslims and more and more people, who instead of giving in to biased and deceitful propaganda, are trying to read and understand Qur'an to know the truth. There have been many who started reading Qur'an to find faults in it, ended up entering in the fold of Islam.

Today in our series of revert Experiences, we share a personal account, wherein a born Christian who just took Islam as her research topic and found it to be the truth rather than a lie as has been so portrayed. And when she read the opening verses of Surah Al-ʻAlaq or The Clot, is the 96th chapter of the Qur'an, which in fact were the first verses of revelations to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, she was flabbergasted to read the formation of human embryo. Reading something that science has only discovered in the last two centuries, she was amazed to find that no one except our Creator could have it revealed. The truth made her cry and was the final step to proclaim Shahadah and enter the fold of Islam.

Please watch the full video of a revert experience below and see how reading Qur'an melts hearts and lets non-Muslims enter the fold of Islam:
May Allah (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which is embodiment of commandments of Allah contained in the Qur'ān. Why Latinos are Reverting to Islam in the USA?

Reading revert experiences is both educative and reassuring: Educative in the sense that these experiences give an insight into the mindset of the non-Muslims that finally leads them to reverting to Islam, and Reassuring for despite a n immense number of negativities being shown on social media and labeling Muslims as terrorists and unsuitable for "civilized' societies, thousands enter into the fold of Islam every day around the world.

AS for the USA, it is one single country were ratio of those accepting Islam is much more than in any country otherwise. As per estimates, 25,000 Americans convert to Islam per year. The conversion rate of Americans has become 4 times more since September 11. As of now, the Latino Muslim community is estimated to be between 40,000 and 200,000.

Of those reverting to Islam, there is measurable number of Latinos and Hispanic Americans who are willingly attracted to Islam for they believe that Islamic values harmonize with the traditional values of Latino culture. Converts have cited such similarities as respect for social solidarity, the family, the importance of religion, and education. Some Latino Muslims claim conversion to Islam as a return to their true heritage.

Another imposing factor is that most Latinos who revert to Islam are Catholics, who find an intrinsic closeness to Islam, leaving aside concept of Jesus being God or son of God.  Similarities like the belief in Monotheism, reverence of Mary, mother of Prophet Eesa (Jesus, peace be upon him), pilgrimage, praying (Salat for Muslims), fasting and charity, attract Latinos to Islam for the concept of all these factors is clearer in Islam than Christianity.

In one of the revert experiences of a Catholic Latino, the one-to-one connection between God and the Muslims, was the deciding factor for they have been approaching God with priests acting as mediators. There is a relative simplicity within Islam with structure and theology in this respect.
Many Latino converts come from Catholic backgrounds and the similarities between Catholicism and Islam give them a sense of familiarity with their new religion. However, some Latino Muslims had difficulty with the Church, believing in original sin, and in the Holy Trinity. Islam solves the problems many Latinos have with the Catholic Church. Fathi Osman, resident scholar at the Omar Foundation, says "in their own countries Hispanics did not see the Church supporting the rights of the poor. Rather it sided with the rich and the influential." This, he argues, has contributed to some Latinos converting to Islam. [1]
Twenty-year-old Gabby Gonzalez. like other converts, found the Catholic Church too bureaucratic and too impersonal. She also had a hard time with certain aspects of the faith, like the hierarchy of the church, belief in the Trinity and original sin. She remembers going to mass weekly with her grandmother and cousins, and just feeling lost.
As per a report, "Latinas Choosing Islam over Catholicism", published by NPR, at the North Hudson Islamic Education Center, weekly classes on what it means to be a Muslim cater to the mosque's growing Hispanic population. Mosque leaders say 10 years ago there were only a handful of Hispanics at Friday prayers, and today there are roughly 150. On this night a couple dozen new Spanish-speaking converts gather in a small classroom next to the main prayer room. [3]

The concept of repentance and forgiveness of sins by God is one of the major contributing for criminals and prisoners reverting to Islam. This perhaps is a major breakthrough in the reformation of criminals who otherwise do not find a respectful place in society. But once in the fold of Islam, they not only are reassured that whatever sins they had committed as non-Muslims will be washed away and their life starts as if they are born afresh. Not only this, their lives as Muslims are a complete transformation from their previous life and they become very useful part of society.
Islam allows those convicted of crimes to recover from the stigma of being a "criminal".[9] By following the teachings of Islam, people who are convicted of a crime have a moral framework for rehabilitation and recovery as well as providing prisoners with a more positive way to cope with the harsh environment in prison, which in turn lessens their likelihood to have to turn to violence and aggression.[13] Spalek and El-Hassan suggest that the work of prison Imams is vital and needs to have greater support, especially during the transition period when individuals and adjusting to life after being released from prison.[13] Studies also show that rates of recidivism are lower for Muslim converts. [1]
The Latino and Hispanic reverts, like elsewhere in the world, draw a severe reaction from their friends and families. Specially women, who when start wearing Hijab, become instant target of fury of their relatives. But it is very reassuring to know that most of the reverts are getting along with the negative outburst by their near and dear ones, and are continue to cling to their new found faith and are even helping others reverts who take these negativities rather seriously and need counseling. Although, Islam may restrict freedom of women while wearing Hijab, yet women feel they are now more respectful than before.

We may go on and on to talk on the subject as the experiences of Latinos and Hispanic American are never ending. But the purpose of this post is only to share how the Latino and Hispanic feel about Islam and how their grievances with the Church and concepts of Trinity, Jesus being God are leading them to find a soothing solace as Muslims.

To sum up, please watch the video below which says it all about reversion of Latinos to Islam in USA:
a

Why do eyes overflow when someone reverts to Islam and take Shahada (testimony of faith)

Tears are expressive of one's emotional outburst whether due to suffering extreme anguish, pain or huge loss or due to extreme happiness and overwhelming joy from attaining extraordinary achievement or receiving some very good news.

Reverting to Islam is one of the most difficult decisions that a man or woman ever takes in their lives for changing faith is not an ordinary thing to do. And it is generally seen that when one takes Shahada, it is immediately followed by a sudden outburst of emotion and t

Have you ever witnessed a non-Muslim taking a shahada (testimony of faith) to become a Muslim? Well, I suppose most reverts would have undergone this experience when they took the shahada and tears intrinsically start to flow from their eyes. These tears are in fact an expression of finally knowing and accepting the truth: Truth that has been hidden for years. One suddenly feels liberated from a belief which was always disturbing and had no logic.
Many converts to Islam have described their experience. “And I was so overwhelmed with love for Him (God) and appreciation at all the beauty He has created that I burst into tears.”
Ever wondered why it is so? This simple fact has been mentioned in the 83rd verse of Surah 5. Al Maida (The Table Spread):

(5:83) And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger you see that their eyes overflow with tears because of the Truth that they recognize and they say: 'Our Lord! We do believe; write us down, therefore, with those who bear witness (to the Truth).
Yes, it is the recognition of truth which has been hidden form them for years and when the truth unfolds, one cannot resist to control one's emotions and eyes become flooded with truth of happiness for having found the truth and the straight path that God has promised. This verse is in comparison with the attitude of the Jews and the Christians. While Jews generally stick to their beliefs, the Christians have a rather softer heart towards Islam for it is much closer to their beliefs, especially for those who realize that the notion of Jesus being son of God is a concoction by the priests and that Prophet Eesa (Jesus, may peace be upon him) was a prophet of God, like many others before him and Muhammad ﷺ, the last prophet of God.  The mention of group in the explanation below is in fact referred to Christians.

This is a picture of the way these true followers of Jesus (sws) enthusiastically welcomed the Qur’ān. This fact has been mentioned in the previous verse as under:
(5:82) Of all men you will find the Jews and those who associate others with Allah in His divinity to be the most hostile to those who believe; and you will surely find that of ail people they who say: 'We are Christians', are closest to feeling affection for those who believe. This is because there are worshipful priests and monks among them, and because they are not arrogant.
Explanation Qur'an Wiki
This is a very vivid description of this group. They are so deeply touched when they listen to the Qur’ān that tears spring to their eyes in recognition of the truth they hear. In the first instance, they cannot express this recognition in any way better than allowing their eyes to overflow with tears. No words are adequate to describe their feelings. Such a response, indicative of profound effect, is a well-known human reaction. Tearful eyes, however, are not enough. They do not wish to adopt a negative attitude to the truth they have recognized as a result of listening to the Qur’ān and its evident authoritativeness. They take a clear, positive attitude which accepts this truth, believes in it and submits to its authority. They declare their acceptance in a profound and frank manner.

You may now watch Six emotional Shahada moments that will Make You Cry:
Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which is embodiment of commandments of Allah contained in the Qur'ān. May Allah help us to be like the ones He loves and let our lives be lived helping others and not making others life miserable or unlivable. May all our wrong doings, whether intentional or unintentional, be forgiven before the angel of death knocks on our door.

An effort has been made to gather explanation / exegesis of the surahs of the Qur'ān from authentic sources and then present a least possible condensed explanation of the surah. In that the exegesis of the chapters of the Quran is mainly based on the "Tafhim al-Qur'an - The Meaning of the Qur'an" by one of the most enlightened scholars of the Muslim World Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi.
In addition, references of other sources which have been explored have also been given above. Those desirous of detailed explanations and tafsir (exegesis), may refer to these sites.

Revert Experiences: I tried Every Faith and Ended up Converting to Islam

Many years ago when I started writing this blog, my sole aim was to know and share why non Muslims revert to Islam. What have been their thrust of search and queries that were answered by reading Qur'an and listening to some of the eminent scholars of Islam of the time. But after sharing many such experiences, I broadened the scope of the blog to explanation/tafsir/exegesis of Qur'an to many other subjects that new reverts would still like to know. However, side by side I kept sharing revert experiences for may be someone who is still indecisive of embracing Islam may find such experiences of some substance in making one's Ultimate Decision to embrace Islam.

Here I would like to recount an account of my great-great grandfather who despite being born to a Muslim family wanted some of his queries answered and left his home and stayed with Hindus, Christians, Jews and Buddhists for a long time. But then it finally dawned on him that the answers he was looking were right there in the Qur'an and he came back fully satisfied of his search and became a staunch practicing Muslim. You may read my account of him here: Journey through other faiths to know the truth

Generally, my observation is that the Concept of Trinity in Christianity is the basic cause of dissatisfaction for in Bible such concept does not occur. Rather in Bible at many places, it has been categorically said that "Your God is one God and there is none other than Him." That is why many Christians turn to Catholicism, Protestantism, New Age, Buddhism, Agnosticism or even Atheism to find their unanswered queries. Yet are not satisfied and ultimately turn to Islam to find satisfactory answers. They are even amazed to find that Muslims are more Christians than Christians themselves as far faith in Prophet Eesa (Jesus, may peace be upon him). Many Christians who finally believe that God is One, but they still cling to the clause that God is the Father of Jesus, a mis norm for a God cannot have wives and children. If Jesus was born in a miraculous circumstance, this does not make God  father of Jesus.  This aspect has been very clearly stated in Surah 112 Al Ikhlas (please click on the highlighted portion to read the 112th Chapter of Qur'an which clarifies Oneness of Allah and the fact that He begets not, nor was He begotten;).

Continuing with my effort to share the revert experiences, I am sharing a one of the unique revert experiences that I have so far listened to and thought it will be very helpful to those in their quest to find the ultimate truth and finding their way to Islam. Someone has rightly commented on the video and I agree with it in totality:
It shows that everyone that searches honestly for the truth will find Islam at the end, not only because it is the only religion that makes sense but also that Allah guides you to the right path.
Please watch the video below and listen to each word and query that one may be confronted with and how and where to find the true Truth and the final answers:

Revert Experiences: How a Pro-Israeli Hasidic Jewish Girl Converted to Islam

There have been lot of negativities about Islam the world over. The hate of Muslims, the wearing of Hijab by Muslim women which is being taken as suppression of women rights, caricatures of revered personalities of Islam and spread of Islamophobia. The burning of Qur'an is yet another trend in some non Muslim countries with disgust and with the feeling as if by burning of Qur'an will decrease the love of Islam and take people away from converting to it.

Yet, despite all negativities, the conversion to Islam, or the reversion to Islam as we Muslims call it for all men and women were born Muslims, it is only once they grow up they follow the religion of  their ancestors without actually understanding what religions are and how gradually the Divine religions finally culminated to Islam. In fact more and more people are now reverting to Islam, mostly Christians, atheists and Hindus. However, the trend is quite low as for Jews are concerned.

But today we share a revert story of a Pro-Israeli Hasidic Jewish girl who reverted to Islam and explained her reasons for doing so.
Present-day Hasidism is a sub-group within Haredi ("ultra-Orthodox") Judaism, and is noted for its religious and social conservatism and social seclusion. Its members adhere closely both to Orthodox Jewish practice – with the movement's own unique emphases – and the traditions of Eastern European Jews.
You may now watch the video of how this pro0Israeli Hasidic Jewish girl converted to Islam and how she stands to her decision:

Why I embraced Islam - An Awe Inspiring Revert Experience of a Chinese Youngman

My readers would recall that I started this blog to share view of reverts and to know why the left the religion of their birth and entered into the fold of Islam. And each experience that I shared was awe inspiring as mostly these have been young people who thought their religion of birth was not soul satisficing and that there was some amiss that needed to be resolved and answered.

Today I am sharing the experience of young Chinese, Herald, from Singapore who had been searching for the truth as he felt kind of hollowness inside him - something that was compelling him to know more - something that was need to be put right.

He had been trying to find answers to his countless questions. He flipped pages after pages of Bible but his thirst could not be quenched. Then one day he tried to try referring to the Quran and he closed his eyes and randomly opened a page. And it turned out to be the 54th verse of Surah 22. Al Hajj (The Pilgrimage):

(He also does this) in order that those endowed with knowledge may know that it is the Truth from your Lord and that they may have faith in it and their hearts may humble themselves before Him. Verily Allah always directs those that believe to the Right Way.

He says: Althgh the message was very clear, yet I thought that I accidently opened this page. So I closed the Quran and again opened it randomly and I came across  53rd verse of Surah 41. Ha-Mim, which read:

Soon shall We show them Our Signs on the horizons and in their own beings until it becomes clear to them that it is the Truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is a witness over everything?

And it sent a chill up his spine for he felt as if Allah was right there telling him " Is it not enough that your Lord is a witness over everything?". From here on, the life changed for him and he decided to change faith - from his birth religion of Christianity to Islam. This happened in 2014 and another brother reverted to Islam after a long exercise of knowing and learning the truth which only Islam can lead one to. His new Islamic name is now Firdous.

I have just condensed the entire content of the video that I am sharing now, which is so soul inspiring that I even cried when he almost came to the end of the video. Please watch this video, even if you are not a Muslim, and would certainly feel in the presence of Allah, who is a witness over everything:

A Unique Revert Experience: Dialing 911 ends up Accepting Islam

More than a year ago when I started this blog, it was with the aim of knowing why non Muslims choose to embrace Islam, and sharing their experiences so that those mulling to take their final decision could be motivated by these experience and also join the ultimate truth that Islam shows to its adherents.

There have many experience, each different from other though, with the sole aim of finding the truth, truth that will save them from the hellfire and end up in the paradise, a place of tranquility - a reward for those who chose to be Muslims.

The experience that I am sharing today is very unique from all the revert experience I have shared so far. I came across it by chance while viewing Islam related videos.  This experience is of a former Christian Sunday School Teacher Lisha Rasheeda Shaheen who recalls her journey to Islam. Her quest to know the truth led her to a sort of miracle, which she herself is unable to understand. Her journey started form asking questions from church leaders and finally ending up with a Muslim whom she asked to loan him his Quran so that she could compare it with Bible.

Revert Experiences: The Mystique Gamelan brings a Jew to Islam

I have been sharing revert experiences from across the world and each experience is different from the rest. But the experience I am going to share is unique as instead of being motivated by teaching of Islam, a Jew finds a spiritual connection between the percussion sound of a Gamelan and Islam.

This unique revert experience I came across in a post wherein a Jew travels to Indonesia to learn music. Indonesia being a Muslim dominated country, this young man hid his identity afraid of being expelled or being persecuted for being a Jew. He had been attending music classes with his hidden identity, portraying him a Buddhist for almost a year and half when one day he came to listening to the traditional Java percussion instrument Gamelan, made of metal - sounding perhaps something like steel drums.
I may add here that music and Islam do not usually go together. While Muslim communities generally ban non-chanting music all together, others allow it as long as it doesn’t contain messages (e.g., sex, alcohol) that go against the teachings of Islam. The Muslims in Indonesia adopt the latter attitude. [1]
One day while he was attending the Gamelan classes, an old man sitting next to him explained to me the connection between the Gamelan and Islam. He told him about an ancient royal Gamelan ensemble which has the only purpose of commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The old man further told him that the playing of Gamelan was supposed to represent continuous praises for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

This unique revelation had a profound impact on him as he had never thought about the spiritual aspect of music. His explanations made a lasting impact on him as he started to read more about the spirituality and Islamic mysticism. The more he read about, he came to realize that Islam was a lived religion and that it was full with the spirituality he wanted in my life. Before being exposed to the spiritual aspect of Islam, for him Islam was a dry and strict religion that only focused on the outer aspects and rules.

From here on his quest to know more about Islam grew and was fascinated about the richness of Islam as a religion. He eventually decided to take his shahadha one day and embraced Islam in a small Muslim community center in New York City. He started praying and joined the regular dhikr circle. The rhythmic remembrance of Allah is wonderful, he says and feels that it is like spiritual music that soothes the heart and calms the mind.

An Amazing Account of Revert Experience

I have been sharing revert experience and each account was different and informative for me. But today I am sharing a revert account which for me was both different from all previous accounts but very soul inspiring. I came across this account while I was searching for material for a series of posts I write about Islam and Life of Muslims in Non Muslim Countries. And this account I came across while searching for input on Nicaragua.

This account of multiple reversions was shared in the Islamic Bulletin and I am sharing it as it appeared in its source:

The Nicaraguan government bans all missionary groups from Pakistan, India and other Arab or Islamic countries. After receiving requests for help, a group of brothers from the San Francisco area made travel arrangements to Nicaragua to reintroduce Islam to these forgotten brothers and sisters.

While in Managua, the capitol city of Nicaragua, the group was told about a Palestinian elder, named Mukhtar, who had been in a coma for three weeks and near death. Before going into the coma, this man had asked to be among Muslims as he died. He was located in the town of Chinandega, which is approximately 150 Km from Managua. So the group from San Francisco decided to go to the dying Muslim and fulfill his wish to be among the Muslims when he died.

As the group traveled to Chinandega, a local brother explained some background of the family. While the Palestinian Muslim had married Nicaraguan woman, she continued to be strong catholic. And obviously, due to the mother's influence their two sons and a daughter were all raised Catholic. It also transpired that the dying man's wife wanted her husband's burial burial as a Christian.

When they all reached the Palestinian Muslim's house, upon entering his home, they were surrounded by a plethora of Christian statues and large crucifixes everywhere. They felt as if they had been transported into a church. Ignoring these, they approached the dying elder brother. With his sons and daughter present they started reciting "Surah Ya seen" and made a collective dua (supplication to Allah) for the old gentleman.

They could see in the eyes of the sons and daughter the anguish and love for their father. At that moment one is filled with a sense of helplessness.
"Then why do ye not (intervene when the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat...and ye the while (sit) looking on... But we are nearer to Him than ye, and ye see not." (Qur'an 56:83-85)
The group comforted the grown children with mention of the greatness of Allah and the principles of Islam, some points about the Prophet Eesa (Jesus, peace be upon him), and tried to give them a little of what they had missed of an Islamic upbringing. As they were listening, the oldest brother removed the cross from his neck and at once accepted Islam and said the Shahada (declaration of faith), followed by his brother, and together they invited their sister to do the same, which she did. The Mother, listening to this conversation, became upset by what was happening and left the house.

The brothers from San Francisco then proceeded to their drivers house for a late lunch and Dhuhr Salah (the midday noon prayer) along with the children of the dying man. It was the first salah for the children and they were instructed to make dua for their poor dying father. As the group prayed for the dying man with their hands raised to Allah, the phone rang...the father had passed away...in peaceful repose. How thankful the brothers from San Francisco were that they had delayed Dhuhr prayer and lunch for the sake of visiting the man who only had a short time left in this life.

They all then returned to the elders home and started the process of an Islamic burial. The eldest brother, the first of the family to accept Islam, was able to perform a final service for his beloved father by Islamically washing and preparing him for the final internment with the help of the San Francisco brothers. The wife of the deceased man later admitted that when she had left the house earlier, she had gone to her local priest and explained to him about this strange group of men who had arrived from nowhere and converted all her family and was in the process of burying her husband of many years the Islamic way. She explained to the priest what the brothers had been saying about Jesus and Islam. This priest agreed with the points the brothers had made and suggested that she submit to her husband's wishes. During the burial, the son's of Mukhtar were able to place him lovingly into his grave facing the Qiblah (Makkah) with their own hands and thus fulfilled their father's dying wish...to be among Muslims as he died. The greatness of Allah allowed him to be buried as a Muslim, by Muslims, and with those Muslims being his own blood family.

After the burial, the brothers from San Francisco stayed awhile and provided further Islamic information for the family. The family cleared their house of idols and crosses and made their big house into the 'Mosque of Chinandega'. It was then that the mother, who was deeply touched by her husband's funeral also accepted Islam before the brothers departed!

This was really amazing and very motivating to read this first account. But that was not all. The group from USA had more miraculous stories to tell as they continued their journey to neighbouring El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala!!

One of the brothers of the San Francisco group visiting Central America was asked by his secretary to deliver some items to her mother, Mrs. Molina, then living in the little town of Granada, close to Managua. It seems that the brother's secretary, a non-Muslim, had been criticized by mother and other members of her family for her Islamic leanings due to working for our friend. She did not eat pork and liked to read the Qur'an "because it made her feel good". The mother had been accusing the good brother of 'brainwashing' her daughter.

Well, the brother delivered the parcel to Mrs. Molina as promised. By that time it was time for the Maghreb prayer and he asked her permission to pray there, and she allowed him so. After praying, our friend started answering Mrs. Molina's questions about Islam and before he knew it...she asked to become Muslim, made Shahada, and even asked him to speak to her neighbors and friends about Islam! A very enthusiastic convert! Well, needless to say...the brothers secretary no longer heard about 'brainwashing' from her mother, and was even a little surprised by this turn of events. The problem though...now her mother is criticizing her again...wanting to know what is taking her daughter and son-in-law too long in accepting Islam too!

The presence of the group in Nicaragua reinvigorated the spirit of Islam in the Islamic community of Managua and a  masjid which was virtually empty during salah times when the group first arrived, started attracting Muslims to it. The hearts of the Muslims of Managua were again united in brotherhood. As a result of their visit, many of the Muslim residents of Managua again started attending Fair and Isha prayer in congregation. The San Francisco brothers also provided a yearly prayer schedule which the Managuans did not have previously, having to rely on a schedule they had received during Ramadan which they had not adjusted for the course of the year.

These descendants of the early immigrants are hungry for information about Islam. Almost 60 people accepted Islam as a consequence of the group from San Francisco. Spanish Qur'an and literature are continually in demand. It's the responsibility of all of us to remember these Muslims far away. Please help if you assist with Islamic literature in Spanish language to share with Muslims of Nicaragua.

Embracing Islam: The Revert Experiences (Reference Page)

We started our blog more than a year ago to know how and why non-Muslims take their ultimate decision to revert to Islam. And since then, we have shared many a account of revert Muslims and it has been very enlightening to know that people living in generally Christian dominated society think positively and find many a taboo and religious beliefs ill-founded and wrongly practiced.

Generally, there are three main reasons of non-Muslims, especially the Christians, to embrace Islam.  I have deliberated upon in my earlier post: Why People of Other Religions Become Muslims? But would mention here just for reference:
  • Oneness of Allah
  • Concept of Trinity
  • The Concept of Original Sin
  • Acceptance of all Prophets
Allhamdolillah, the number of Muslims is increasing at a very healthy rate and some critics of Islam fear that Islam may assume the position of a dominant religion worldwide by 2050. Just for a reference, recently while writing about life of Muslims in Bulgaria, I was surprised to see that mere 7.8% Muslim presence in Bulgaria in 2014 has almost doubled to 15% by 2017.

This reference page provides a link to all our posts written on the subject and should come handy for those who want to know why and how non-Muslims embrace Islam:

1: General
2: Revert Experiences
3. Celebrities that reverted to Islam
We will continue to update this page as and when a new revert experience is added.
May Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى‎) help us understand Qur'ān and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which is embodiment of commandments of Allah contained in the Qur'ān.

Allah has no offspring, no race, no gender, no body, and is unaffected by the characteristics of human life.
